Avoiding A Big Parenting Mistake

Just a few months ago, my son who was six asked me for an Xbox 360 for his birthday present.  Now, I know very little about video game systems, so that seemed like a good idea.

Now the day before I was going out to buy it, I had a funny feeling in my gut.  Something just wasn’t right.  So, I decided to go online and see what kind of Xbox 360 games were available.  Boy was I in for a surprise.

What I found out was not good.  Not good at all.  You see, pretty much all the games I saw were for adults, involved shooting and had blood in them.  Now, my son at six just shouldn’t be seeing these things - it might mess him up for later on in his life.

Thankfully, I came across some Wii game reviews, and they seemed more promising.  Their games were family friendly, and I could get a lot of games geared to my son’s age.  So my choice was clear:  I was going to buy a Nintendo Wii.

I am so happy that I was able to avoid a potential big mistake in my parenting - thankfully, the Internet was available to help me make the right choice.
