Planning for a Trip to Europe

In a couple of months we will be going to Europe for a well deserved vacation.  I don’t really remember the last time that we went anywhere, and it is about time we do.  My wife has always dreamed about going to Europe and I thought it would be a good idea to make her dreams come true.

So, I went to book our trip through a travel agent and they were happy to help us with almost everything.  They booked our flight, our hotels but not our transportation while we are going to be there.  All they gave us was a list of cheap car hire agencies in Spain and France - and we had to do the booking ourselves.

My first phone call was to the companies on the cheap car hire France list and that is where I made my first mistake.  I forgot to account for the time zone difference, so I was calling when they were closed -oops!  Once I figured that out, I had no problems booking a car while we would be in Paris.

I also had to book a car for when we would be in Spain.  Learning from my calls to France, I called when the rental locations would be open.  The first few calls I made on the list of cheap car hire Spain reached someone who spoke Spanish - not English.  Since I don’t speak Spanish at all, it took a few tries to get someone who spoke English, but then it was easy for me to book a car.

So, everything is set and I am going to tell her about the vacation on Valentines day.  I just can’t wait to see her reaction.
