Years ago, I received quite a large inheritance from my great aunt.  At the time, I was still in high school and my parents wanted to put it in the bank in trust for me, but I had other ideas.  You see, it would do me no good rotting away in a bank account.  I needed it to grow so I could go to college.

I pleaded with my parents to allow me to invest the money, so that it would be making me more money for my future.  They listened to my arguments and actually considered my request.  They told me that I should make an appointment with someone from a stock picks service that could advise me on what the best choices would be for me and the amount of money that I had to invest.

I agreed with them that this would be a smart move and I made an appointment. I took my father with me and we had a really good meeting. My parents did allow me, in the end to invest the money and I spent a little time each day following my investments. Who knew that the simple act of investing my inheritance would have paved the road for me to be a successful investor today.
