A Good Mistake

Posted By Twyla on March 15, 2008 @ 2:56 pm

I found myself at a your money matters website the other day when I was doing an online search. I am not sure exactly how I got there from the search that I was doing, but I a grateful that I did. I found it to be a wealth of information and, knowing what I know about investing for your future, I learned a lot.

The best thing I found about the site was the daily article feature. I found that these articles answered many questions that we did not even think to ask. I thought I knew a lot about saving for retirement, but it turns out that I know very little. Through this website, though, I am learning more and more every day.

I had never heard of Michael Dinich before going here and I guess he is somewhat of an expert in the area of retirement planning. From what I read about him, it seems that he really knows what he is talking about and I am impressed. I have completely changed the way I save for retirement, all thanks to being directed to the completely wrong webpage.

My Dirty Old Machine

Posted By Twyla on @ 11:49 am

I decided that I would check into some different registry cleaner software reviews. I have been having a lot of trouble with my computer crashing and I thought that if I got a registry cleaner, it may help my windows to run more efficiently. I am sure that there is a lot of garbage on there that doesn’t need to be there.

I was especially impressed with the RegCure review that I read. The one review stated that they had found over three hundred registry mistakes on a new machine. That is pretty high. I am scared to see how many it might find on mine. It will probably tell me to go and throw my computer into the river for maximum utilization.

I know that for sure I need Registry Mechanic to do a thorough clean up job on my computer. I am hoping that this will solve all of my problems and that my computer will quit crashing. After all, it can’t hurt it, even if it doesn’t cure it.

Hooked On Technology

Posted By Twyla on March 14, 2008 @ 7:11 pm

I went to a technology show with a friend not too long ago. I am not that much into technology, but he wanted someone to go with and I decided that I might find something interesting to look at. One of the displays really caught my attention and I pretty much spent the rest of the day there. It was an OLED introduction. I had never heard of this before and I was hooked instantly.

I am not that much into technology, but I do love my TV. There was an 11 inch OLED on display at the booth and the picture was so wonderful that I would have traded my 36 inch LCD TV in for the 11 inch right then and there. When I told my wife this, she was amazed because I really love my LCD.

I had to find out a lot more about this new technology. I just could not get enough of learning about AMOLED and other types of organic light emitting diodes. I was finally fascinated with something technological and my friend was excited that I was so into something that interested him.

Thank goodness for the RAAS

Posted By Admin on @ 12:31 pm

We were down in Murrieta, California for a little vacation.  We both had a couple of days off from work, so we thought that we would go down there for a visit.  Some of our close friends had moved there and we hadn’t had a chance to visit them.

Before we went on the trip, I purchased a new GPS.  You know, one of those gadgets that let you leave your map at home.

Well, it should be like that in theory…

We reached the outskirts of Murrieta, and pulled over to the side of the road for a break.  Well, it was more of a diaper change as our baby had a bit of an accident on the trip.  After cleaning up the mess, we jumped back in the car, and the GPS just wouldn’t work.

Well, it sort of worked.  It would show us the city of Murrieta, but nothing else.

We were in a pickle and pulled over at the nearest service station.  There, a clerk was nice enough to give us a copy of the RAAS that had Murrieta maps in it.

Thankfully we made it to our friend’s house.  If it wasn’t for that great magazine, I don’t know what we would have done.

Jewelry Shopping Trip

Posted By Admin on @ 4:00 am

I worked a little bit of overtime a couple of weeks ago, and it was on the check I received from work this week.  That meant that I had a little extra money that I could spend as I wanted.  Normally, I would spend it on my bills or catch up on my credit cards, but for once, this money was actually not needed for those things.

So, I thought that I should maybe buy something for myself, as it has been a very long time.  The first place that I started was looking for watches as I had broke mine last week.

After looking around the jewelry store for about half an hour, I found the perfect watch for me.  It was hiding in a bunch of Invicta watches and it just screamed out to me.  I asked the sales clerk what she thought of it, and she told me "It’s hot!"

I also took a look at the Iced out jewelry, but nothing really caught my eye today.  Besides, after buying the watch, I really didn’t have that much spare money left.  But it sure felt nice to buy something for me - I felt rewarded for all my hard work.

Ironic Gift

I have to admit that I am not a big sports fan. In fact, I am probably the least sports minded person I know. I don’t even watch the Superbowl and everyone watches the Superbowl, whether they watched a regular season game or not. That is why I found it amusing that I got NBA tickets for Christmas.

In defense of the person who gave them to me, it was at an office Christmas party and the giver does not know me real well. I guess that is quite obvious and I figured that they must have been pretty cheap NBA tickets, given what our price range was for the exchange.

It is not that I am unthankful, but I had no desire to go and see a basketball game, when I would have no idea whatsoever what was going on. I was telling a guy friend about it when he said that he would often buy NBA tickets and that he would buy these from me. I was glad to sell them to him and I went out and bought myself a new sweater with the money. That was more like it.

Looking to Improve My Golf Game

Posted By Admin on March 12, 2008 @ 12:55 pm

I have been looking for awhile now for some way to improve my golf game.  I have been playing for many years now, but I have hit a wall in terms of my score.  Each game is basically the same, so I figure that I have some room for improvement.

One of my friends attended the Academy of Golf last year and saw a dramatic change in his game.  In fact, I used to beat him all the time before he went, and now, he beats me all the time.  Obviously, the golf instruction that he had received there made a big difference, so I thought it should help me out as well.

So, I have registered for the next class at a Florida Golf School.  The school that I will be attending is just a short drive from my home, so it should be easy to find.  I can’t wait to see what I learn and how much I improve my game - it will be nice to break my best score for a change.

Determined to Go to College

Posted By Twyla on March 11, 2008 @ 8:27 pm

I am so tired of writing admission essays, but I guess that is what you get when you apply at thirteen different universities. I wanted each essay to be unique and I wrote them according to which school I was applying at. I was determined to get into college and I was not going to let only applying at one school stop me.

The first application essay that I wrote was actually a lot of fun, but by the time I had written six or seven, I was tired of hearing about myself. I needed a break, but time did not really afford that, as I need to get these all mailed away and sent in. It would be so great to get into the school of my first choice.

Actually, I could hear form the one I really want to go to first, as it is the only one that offers an online essay, instead of having to mail it in, so my application for that one is already gone. I am keeping my fingers crossed. As a last resort, I will apply to the school here at home, but I would really love to go away.

The Old Plaid Chairs Need To Go

Posted By Twyla on March 10, 2008 @ 3:29 am

I would love nothing more than to get some new office furniture. Mine is old and outdated and is not very comfortable anymore. The room I set up as an office in my house is a nice one and I think that it would be a whole lot nicer if the furniture looked better.

The oldest furniture in there is the office chairs. I think that they are around twenty years old and they look like it. They are plaid and ugly. They were very functional when I needed them, but I think that they have served their purpose and, once I can go shopping, will no longer be needed.

I was paging through a catalog for a store that sells home office furniture and I found the ones that I want. They will look super in the room and they look like they would be really comfortable. Now there is only one problem that remains. I just need to convince my husband that this is what we need to do.

Good Signs of a New Business

Posted By Twyla on @ 2:28 am

My friend opened up a new business in which he creates custom signs. It is doing very well so far and he is really enjoying the work that he is doing. He is a very creative person and likes to work with his hands. I knew that he would do really well when he decided to launch the business and I was right. His creations were both original and unique.

He started out by making yard signs with house number on them. The numbers were lighted up by LED lights and they used next to no electricity. The signs were beautiful and it was a new and unique way to display house numbers. You could sure see it from the street. I liked them so much that I had to order one for myself.

He also created magnetic car signs. These were mostly to be used for the purpose of advertising. He made some for his own vehicles and then promoted his business to other local businesses, in hopes of getting more sales. It worked, as his sales started shooting through the roof. Now, his biggest problem is going to be keeping up with the orders. All I can say is, good for him.
