Taming the Bully

There was a bully at my school that would just not leave anyone alone. Expulsion had been threatened, but it did not seem to make a difference. Part of the problem was that no one in authority ever caught him in the act. Everyone hated this guy and I actually felt a little bit sorry for him, as I was sure that there were are underlying issues as to why he acted that way.

I decided that I was going to try and befriend him, as he really had no friends. I asked him if he wanted to go and play paintball with me on the weekend. He reluctantly agreed and we met on Saturday for a great game. It was so nice to give him a chance and realize that he could be a fun guy. We decided to do it again the next day.

Overtime and over many paintball guns, I found out that his dad is an abusive alcoholic and his mom is not in the picture at all. He has a pretty tough life and we fast became best friends. He is not a bully anymore and we have a bond that I have never experienced before in my life.
