Simple Web Store Solutions

Posted By Admin on April 22, 2008 @ 7:12 pm

When setting up my first couple of web stores, I didn’t try to make it perfect, but I did make the effort to work properly.  That was a number of years ago, and people were more happy that the storefront software worked properly, rather than the looks.

But now, the site design and template are important.  I make sure that each of my shopping cart websites have their own distinct look that is related to their niche.  This way, when my customers visit my sites, they take their time and appreciate their time there.

I was able to find a product that simplified the entire process for me starting a new web store.  We now use an asp net shopping cart based system that not only accepts money on our part, but it automatically does inventory control and all of our accounting.

In some respects, it is almost like the store does the work for me so that I can enjoy life more.

Motorcycle Shopping the Easy Way

Posted By Admin on April 21, 2008 @ 7:17 pm

When I was going to buy my first motorcycle, I really had no idea what to look for.  Basically, I was looking for a bike that would be reliable, affordable, be a good starter motorcycle.

Seeing that I had no real idea of what to look for, I asked a buddy of mine what he suggested.  Turns out that the friend that I thought was a motorcycle expert, really wasn’t at all.  But over the years, I saw the large number of motorcycles that he bought and I had to ask him his secret.

As it turns out, he uses a Cycle Trader to find the deals for him.  He just tells the trader what he is looking for as well as his price range, and what features he wants, and the trader finds it for him.  It is as simple as that.

I think that it will be a good idea if I go see his cycle trader and get some information - it will be a lot easier than trying to do it myself.

Correcting High School Essays

Posted By Admin on @ 3:02 pm

My first task as a teacher’s aide is to correct a huge stack of essays from a grade 9 class.  The teacher thought it would be appropriate for me to try my hand at correcting the classes dissertations and see in what capacity I would be able to help her out in.

This will be my first time correcting any assignment and I hope it goes smoothly.  I think I will have to develop some sort of routine as to how much time I will spend correcting each paper and what criteria I am looking for in the assignment.

I have been told that I need to make sure that the students include a thesis statement in their essay that ties in with the topic.  I’ve also been given the marking guide as to what the teacher expects for the certain grade ranges.

Hopefully things will go smoothly and I will be able to get them done in a timely matter.

My Opinions on the Essay Assignments of This Term

Posted By Admin on April 20, 2008 @ 8:41 pm

While I usually enjoy writing essays, some of the essays that were assigned to me this term were good and bad.  Some were designed to expand your horizons and increase your ability to think, while others were basically a waste of time.  Let me share with you some thoughts on those essays that I thought were good or bad over the term.

My favorite essays are wrote were an arts essay studying pottery designs from Egypt and a management essay that studied the effect of hiring techniques in small business firms.  Both of these studies open my mind to new areas that I had never considered studying before.  It was nice to have the opportunity to develop opinions and thoughts in these areas.

What I really didn’t care for was a sociology essay that was assigned to us to study the causes of divorce in America.  I found that we might have been too young to understand the implications or relate to the material.  Also, with the large attention that the media gives to this topic, it turned out that we’re really did not learn anything "new" in this area of study.  I was very disappointed that my sociology class turned out the way it did.

My Mother Drives me Crazy

Posted By Twyla on @ 4:08 pm

With Halloween coming up quickly, I decided that I was not going to dress up this year. This upset my mother so much because I have dressed up every year, since I was born, and my mom is very sentimental. I did not want to upset her, so I decided that I had better go out and find a costume.

I was happy that I did because I found a Jane Jetson costume and I loved it. I would have bought it even if it had not been Halloween. My mother was thrilled and said that there was no reason that I could not dress up and celebrate Halloween just because I was not a child anymore.

I know that I will always be a child to her. Even when I have my own kids, she will still make me dress up. I don’t know why she wouldn’t as I cannot ever remember a year when she didn’t dress up as well. I guess I am lucky to have someone that cares so much. I think I’ll keep her, even though she can drive me crazy.

Perseverance Pays

I am so proud of my daughter. She is working on her admission essay for college, as she is going to finish high school a year early. She has worked hard for this, as her best friend is a year older than her and they wanted to go to college together. She has been planning for this since they were in junior high school.

She has written so many book reports over the past few years and has given up many fun things that kids her age are doing, so that she could stay home and study and be able to graduate a year ahead of the rest of her class. I think that she is very relieved that it is almost over and I think the effort that she put into this will have her better prepared for college.

Even though she will be younger than the rest of the first year students, she will have the edge, as she certainly knows about studying and deadlines. She will not be one of those people scrounging to find a custom essay because they don’t have time to write it for themselves.

It Takes a Little Time

Posted By Twyla on April 19, 2008 @ 8:37 pm

I remember back in college when I wrote my very first psychology essay and got a very poor mark on it.  I didn’t understand as I had always had good grades on my papers in high school.  I knew that my writing had not changed so I was curious as to what had happened.

I decided the best thing to do would be to get some essay assistance from a student who had been in college for more than just a few months like I had been.  I wanted to know why the grading was so much different in college than it was in high school.

I figured that I was not going to be able to cut it in college, as I had tried my best on a paper and I had failed.  I figured that if I was going to make it through and get a degree that I was going to have to buy essay papers from the Internet.

Luckily for me, I didn’t have to stoop to this level, as I eventually learned what the professors wanted and I started writing good essays.

Finding the Truth about Credit Cards

Posted By Admin on @ 1:13 pm

Having been burnt in the past, I decided that this time while shopping for gold credit cards I would make a point of doing some research before I just jumped out and applied for one.  You see, in the past, I made the mistake of applying for some bad credit cards and because I applied for so many, my credit rating suffered.

I thought that the Internet would be a great resource for me to check out the credit card ratings as some of the gold cards that I was looking at.  Some of the criteria for me includes customer service, interest rates and rewards.  I guess what I’m looking for would be the best in all three categories but I know that no one card would be perfect in all of them.

I decided that I won’t apply for a card for another week so that I have ample time to do my research first.  This way, I should avoid the problems I had in the past and end up with a great credit card.

A Lesson in Giving

Posted By Twyla on April 18, 2008 @ 10:28 pm

My son turned five in December, and being that he was now in school, we decided that it was time for him to have his first real birthday party. I was not prepared for the amount of toys that he would receive and after the party, our house looked like Toys R Us.

I am not complaining about the generosity of his friends, but I knew that, with Christmas just around the corner, we were not going to be able to keep all of the gifts that he had received. I asked him to pick a few of his favorites and then we decided that we would donate the rest for underprivileged kids, so that they could have a great Christmas, too.

He of course, decided to keep the race car set with the rubber tracks and the computer game that he had asked for. The rest went to the city’s Secret Santa program. I am sure that the toys were enjoyed and I was happy that, in it all, my son learned the meaning of giving to those less fortunate.

One More To Go

Posted By Admin on @ 3:20 pm

With only one more assignment to go, I am getting very excited that the school year is almost over.  Though it has been long, long term, it will be so nice to finally be done.  Though it has been a good year, it is always nice to have a break.

All I have left to do is write a philosophy essay.  The nice thing will be that I have my choice of essay topics so that it should be easier - at least in theory.

Anyway, I figure that it will take a couple of days of writing to do a good quality job on the essay, and that will be it.  I guess it will be bittersweet when I write those last few words - it will be so great to be done.

Well, I’ll be done writing anyway… I will still have some finals to write as well.
