Little Bits at a Time Add up to a Whole Lot

When I was young and just starting out on my own, I was suckered in by the “pay by the month” furniture and appliance stores. It was a lot easier to come up with the little bits of money each month than to try and come up with it all at once. I have since learned that this is definitely not the economical way to go.

I did not realize at the time that I was ending up paying more than double what things were really worth. By the time I ended up having something paid for it was old and worn out. I never really thought about it until I met my husband. He told me that it was a trap and it was a hard habit to break.

Whenever I buy anything now, I pay once and actually own it while it is still brand new. If I can’t afford it then I really do not need it too badly. It has saved a lot of money in the long run and I will have to admit that it is nice not to have all the payments to make every month.
