With so any different business opportunities online, sometimes it can be difficult to determine which opportunity is best. The key is there are advantages and disadvantages to every business and the key is finding out what’s right for you.

Although there are opportunities online that do not require very much interaction, the opportunities that allow you to build relationships with other people seem to be the most rewarding in my opinion. Regardless of which opportunity you choose, it will require a degree of commitment and persistence to make it work.

I’ll share briefly what I believe to be the advantages and disadvantages of both of these lanes and let you decide. On the more transactional side you have affiliate marketing and on the interactive side you have online direct sales and network marketing (MLM).

Starting with affiliate marketing, the major advantage that I see is the time freedom and the ability to run your business on auto-pilot without the need to train or assist others besides occasional questions or emails you may get regarding a product or service you are promoting.

The disadvantages if yo are working from home alone it can become rather isolated and lonely. You may also lose focus or motivation if you aren’t interacting with a team or community of some sort. Joining forums and other communities can help lessen the isolation.

Now let’s talk about direct sales or MLM. Typically in this business model you are encouraged to build a team and to assist others in their development and business growth. This can lead to great friendships and synergy as well as leveraged and residual income streams. With the right team and compensation plan, this model can prove very profitable.

The downside to MLM and direct sales model is the high level of attrition. Most networkers or direct sales agents don’t last beyond the ninety day point. With a strong focus on quality recruiting this can be minimized but never eliminated requiring a constant need to recruit new members.

There is no single solution or perfect business but there are certain attributes to online businesses that may be more in line with your interests and goals. That said, the underlying quality to all successful internet businesses is your ability to market successfully. Make sure you understand marketing and targeted traffic generation strategies and you can be successful with any business model.
