Decorating your home is a project that can quickly turn from reasonably priced to “oh my gosh, it’s how much?” It isn’t hard to forget what you’re doing and get caught up in the “vision” of your home instead of keeping track of what you spend. Don’t worry too much if you don’t have a lot of money to use on your home decorating project. There are a lot of things that you can use for decorating that don’t cost a lot of money.

This article will give you a few ideas about how to decorate your home without having to spend a lot of money.

Rearrange Your Furniture. Most people don’t know that a simple rearranging of their furniture can be all it takes to give a room a whole new look. Furniture arrangement suggestions and hints can be found everywhere-start at the library and see what you can find! Instead of leaving your couch against a wall, move it closer to the center of the room. Beds don’t have to sit in the middle of the room or wall-putting them in the corner can create a new look. Refocus your family room or living room around a coffee table or fireplace instead of the television. Put the spotlight on something besides the television. Let your cookery serve as kitchen decoration instead of hiding it away. Creating a new feel for your home can be as simple as finding new locations for your existing possessions.

Don’t be afraid of empty space. Too much decoration can cause a home to feel claustrophobic even if there is very little in it. Let your decorations breathe.

Limit yourself to a few pieces here and there. This way the pieces you choose will be easier to spot and you’ll be able to truly appreciate them. It is hard to sit and enjoy your décor when you have too much of it to look at. You want to leave some room open no matter what kind of decorating theme you have. Experienced decorators will tell you that it is okay to leave some space free in every room.

Switch out your old rugs for new ones. Even if you are forced to live in a home with wall to wall carpet, you can put down room sized decorative rugs to change the feel of the room. It isn’t difficult to find a room sized rug, you can purchase them in most stores that carry furnishing and decorations. Hardwood floors or floors covered in tile can easily be touched up with accent rugs. Using accent rugs to decorate is cost effective and easy. If you know how to knit or crochet, you could even make your own using old sheets and clothes!

Decorating with found items is something that everybody can do. Tap into your creativity and look at what you already have. Empty walls can be just as, if not more, beautiful than a wall crammed full of art.

Store bought art is fine, but sometimes the decorations you make yourself are even better! Take your time and think about what you really want. Jumping in and going overboard is only good for emptying the bank account.
