Bake a simple square or rectangle cake, place the image on top and cut it out the cake to fit the shape of your template. Then ice your cake in the appropriate red, white, blue and black colors. You can use thin liquorice strips for the black lines and fill in the thinner lines with pre made black icing gel.

Choose to be a baking star and go with a really cool spiderman cake tin which is quick and easy to use. The first time I did this I was a little nervous. But it was so easy. I was astonished. Plus, after finishing my spiderman cake I received such praise from everyone. I felt like a cake making rock star. In truth, they could not believe I made it.

It is as easy as baking up your cake in the tin. Let it cool, turn it out and you have a perfectly shaped cake with indentations of spiderman ready to ice and add color to.

All you need to do is mix up your icing, use an easy piping bag and away you go. It is like paint-by-numbers and coloring in with icing.
