Everybody loves a hero. NASCAR racing fans wait forthe next Dale Earnhardt Sr. But he really was one of a kind. His death 8 years ago was a tragedy for his family and fans. Fans want another Dale Sr. But that is not gonna happen. Some drivers who have been compared with Dale Earnhardt Sr.. But how do you measure up to the seven-time Winston Cup champion?

Oh yes, Of course NASCAR racing fans compare Dale Jr. with his father. That is simple. Name. Voice. Southern accent. Then again Dale Jr. is neither as aggressive nor as reckless as his father. Dale Jr. does not look for trouble on the track unless his opponents dog him relentlessly.

Kevin Harvick moved into Earnhardt Sr.’s position with Richard Childress Racing. They swapped the number to 29 and altered the colors of the famous number 3 car to mostly white. Harvick is both aggressive and controversial. Harvick is a businessman. He has his own identity. NASCAR racing fans notice. there Early in his career he showed a tendency to irritate his competition. Harvick owns 2 race teams, a Camping World Series Truck team and a Nationwide Series team.

Think about Kurt Busch. In the early 2000’s he was the least popular driver in the garage and in the stands. Though he has mellowed a bit, he is not in tune with NASCAR racing fans. Aside from the reality fact that Kurt could never win over the fans like Earnhardt, Harvick, and Stewart, his younger brother Kyle often overshadows him.

Think about Kurt Busch. Kurt Busch had few fans in the garage and in the stands in the early 2000’s. Even though he has mellowed a bit, he is not really in tune with the NASCAR racing fans. Aside from the reality that Kurt could never win over the fans like Earnhardt, Harvick, and Stewart, he is often overshadowed by Kyle Busch, his younger brother. Kyle Busch. Though Kyle Busch has some qualities that resemble Earnhardt Sr., he is no Intimidator Busch really caught on fire with action in 2008. His aggressive driving and frequent wins and brash personality stirred some comparisons to the late Dale Earnhardt.

Tony Stewart. Tony Stewart’s temper and disregard for the media is really a bit too much. Sometimes he is more tactless than Earnhardt. Stewart is aggressive. Tony Stewart never hesitates to take his complaints public. In addition, Stewart is an entrepreneur. Stewart runs his own race track in Eldora. Stewart owns several race teams in Sprint and the World of Outlaws. Recently Tony Stewart became owner-driver of Stewart Haas Racing, he raised eyebrows.

Nonetheless, at the end of the day you look again and not one of these drivers will ever be the grand Intimidator, Dale Earnhardt. There is just one driver is starting to dimly remind me of Earnhardt . Tony Stewart. Stewart stepped out of the mold of driver into one as successful owner in the Sprint Cup Series with a a has been team. He has two championships already and is doing well this season. Keep your eye on Stewart .

Easy Guide to Automotive Check-Up

Your car needs regular servicing in order to continue running smoothly. The good news is that even though a mechanic can do everything for you, most of it can be done in your garage. We’re not talking about overhauling your engine or transmission. We’re referring to the little things that can influence your car’s performance, maneuverability, and handling over time. Below, I’ll provide a 6-step checklist that you can use to make sure your vehicle is in tip-top condition.

Step 1 - Check The Oil

Get used to checking your oil every few weeks. That way, you’ll have the peace of mind of knowing that your engine will remain well-lubricated while you’re driving. Often, engines will begin burning or consuming too much oil. Checking it periodically will help you keep on top of potential problems.

Step 2 - Check The Coolant

You should check your car’s coolant level regularly, especially if you drive for long distances. Even though it’s easy to keep the reservoir filled, a lot of drivers neglect going so. If the levels decline too far, your vehicle’s engine can overheat. That can lead to expensive damage.

Step 3 - Examine The Air Filter

Look at your air filter every time you change the oil. You won’t need to replace it each time (unless you’re driving over extremely dusty roads), but you should replace it when it gets dirty. The air filter catches debris before it can enter your engine. Over time, the accumulation of dirt and dust will prevent proper airflow.

Step 4 - Fill Up Your Power Steering Fluid

Sometimes, it’s easy to take your vehicle’s power steering for granted. But, the ease with which you turn your wheel requires that you keep the fluid level topped off. Check it at least once a month. Then, if the level seems low, look in your owner’s manual to check whether a particular type of fluid is recommended.

Step 5 - Repair Dents And Dings

Not only do they look unattractive, but dents and door dings can also pave the way for rust to settle in. Unfortunately, being on the receiving end of these small blemishes is practically a foregone conclusion. As inconvenient as it is, getting them fixed can prevent costlier problems later.

Step 6 - Test The Lights

Most cars today are designed to warn the driver that one of the headlights is about to fail. The turn indicator will begin blinking rapidly before the light completely fails. To make sure that you haven’t missed the problem, get into the habit of checking your front and back lights every two weeks. The last thing you want is to find out one of your lights is broken while you’re driving in poor weather.

The six items above are not hard to check. They merely require a few minutes of your time. By keeping on top of each of them, you can help ensure that your vehicle is operating properly. If you notice signs of more severe issues (for example, your engine is burning oil), have a trained mechanic take a closer look.

Hybrid Cars: Are they the Wave to the Future and Can They Save

Posted By Sibusiso M. Maseko on May 7, 2009 @ 3:00 am

Maybe one nice sunny day, we could all drive up to the pump and put some interesting chemical in our car that would make it run forever. Maybe we could gas up on some cooking oil or even oxygen. But for now, we have hybrids. Maybe they are the answer to our dilemma. Are these cars the wave of the future?

It is true that some people have experimented with electrical vehicles in the past. However, the introduction of the hybrid car outdid these types of cars when it came on the scene.

Hybrid cars seem to be the wave of the future, but there are a couple of reasons why that may not be true. For instance, there must be some reason why hybrids are not selling more than conventional cars. That’s because the average customer who looks at the sticker price on a hybrid car is stunned. It’s just too much money for the average car buyer. And how can a car be the wave of the future if it scares people away every time they come to look at it on the dealers’ lot?

Can they save you money?

You could buy a smaller car and sacrifice style, size, and reputation, but who wants to drive around in a dumpy little car when they could be driving a gigantic SUV? With all of the options that exist for saving gas, there is one that makes a lot more sense than all of the others: Get a hybrid car. However, does a hybrid car really save you money?

Many people say that whether you experience great monetary savings by purchasing a hybrid car has to do with a lot more than most people think. And it really does. Some people who are stay-at-home moms for instance, don’t even consider that it might not make a difference whether they own a hybrid car or not. Really, they just don’t go too many places.

Save Money On Gas at Any Price Level

Posted By Dave Davis on April 28, 2009 @ 3:08 am
by Dan Patterson

Gas prices nationwide continue to go rise and fall. It wasn’t all that long ago that prices were around $4 a gallon, and now we’re seeing prices above $2 again on average across the country.

My question is this: did you make any changes to your driving and gas habits when prices were high that are still helping you save money on gas now that prices are lower than what they were? If not, why not?

I think it’s safe to assume that most people just went back to their old ways of doing things once prices went down. We’re creatures of habit and so that’s what we tend to do. But have you noticed that prices are going up again? Are you starting to wish that you had made more permanent changes?

Did you drive differently to save money? Did you use a proven gas additive to increase your gas mileage? Why wouldn’t you continue to do those things? Or were you just doing them because it was in style and cool to do so?

No matter what the price level it’s still saving me money! If I can save 12% on my gas, it doesn’t matter what the current price of gas is. 12% is still 12%, whether it’s 12% of $4.00 gas or 12% of $2.00 gas.

Will you continue to use a good gas additive product, inflate your tires, or do the other tips and tricks you may have learned to save money, or will you throw all of that out the window if prices go down? Only you can decide what you’re going to do, but I would encourage you to make some permanent changes to save money.

It is a personal decision that all of us will have to make. And honestly, there may not be a perfect answer to this one that works for everyone. But I hope that enough of us learned from these high gas prices that we will know what to do if and when something like this happens again.

Why Are Country Cars Still Popular?

Posted By Theodore Cartman on April 27, 2009 @ 3:06 am

Country cars are also known as antique cars or vintage cars in the United States. These are essentially defined as cars that have a 25 years old more time span, notably, cars that were made or released 25 or more years ago. Car manufacturing has come a long way and in the technology of today, cars can be stated as being part of our daily living now.

Newer cars now boast breathtaking technology which makes it easy for us to forget or look down upon vintage cars. Technology has brought us cars that no only run on gasoline, but also on water, electricity and even bio-fuels. These have been called hybrid vehicles and are the next generation of vehicles. Car manufacture today is also done primarily by robots. The human contribution is confined only to the planning and marketing side of vehicles.

Modern cars are full technological innovations. They spot DVD/Blue-ray players, GPS navigation systems, heat and cold controls and much more. But even with the modern marvels that today’s cars come with, there are many that prefer vintage cars. As a result, they go to great lengths to acquire them and consider them a collector’s item.

First of all, its the way they are or were made. Today cars are made almost entirely by robots and lack the old fashioned “human touch” that many still crave. They are made this way because of technological advancements in robotic technology which emanates almost entirely from the US and Japan. It is not difficult to see the human element of creating cars confined only to creative and design aspects of vehicle production.

Everything else including the packaging is done by machines. Country cars on the other hand, originated from an era where manufacturing plants were staffed solely by real humans and vehicle manufacture was an art. The people who worked in vehicle manufacturing plants had a passion for what they did and held their position with esteem. Because of this, there are many people today who feel that vintage cars had a touch of quality and dignity that lacks in modern cars.

Another reason why they are still popular is because of the way they look. Car design has undergone a total transformation to the extent that makes and models made 30 days ago are radically different from the ones that are made by the same companies today even thought they are the same models.

This gives them a certain romanticism to them because they possess a rare look which causes the car to turn heads when it passes. Men in particular, attach a certain sense of sex appeal when it comes to cars especially when that car is an antique car.

One of the downside to country cars is to do with parts. For people who live in the United States and the West, this may not be an issue but the issue of spare parts can become an issue in many other parts of the world especially if the car is an import.

Country Cars Are Still Popular

Technology has revolutionized car driving in the last 10 years. We now have DVD/Blue-Ray players, GPS systems for directions, pool machines, even different temperature controls mechanisms. These have transformed driving in the modern cars that we have today a totally exhilarating experience. Car design has also changed radically in recent times.

Previously, cars were made purely by hand but now a casual visit to the manufacturing plants in Michigan and Mississippi will reveal that there are very few humans on the manufacturing floor.

Robots and other computer-driven gadgets dominate the entire manufacturing process. Cars now not only run on gasoline, but on diesel, electricity and even water. While this is the case and car-driving is a great experience, there are hundreds of people who still have a craze for what we call country cars.

A country car is defined as a car that is at least 25 years old. It may be running or not. In the United States, the term antique car is also used to refer to country cars. But what makes these cars attractive?

One of the reasons these cars attract people is because they are build manually. People usually attach a sentimental value to anything that was not build by machines. That is why there are those who will buy antique cars whether they are running or not. These are called collectors items and are collected much in the same way people coins. These antique cars tend to be more expensive. That explains why only the rich and the famous collect and store them.

Then there are those who value the precision that comes with the country cars. This again is because they are hand-made. One can find carefully crafted interior design and seats in a country antique car. While these can also be found in regular cars, there is a certain appreciation that comes with them. Collectors usually feel robot-manufactured cars lack a personal touch.

One disadvantage with country cars is that their spare parts can be scarce. Indeed the cars themselves can be even scarcer! People looking for these types of cars are usually searching online or in auctions. Car dealerships also run specials on them and sometimes they can also be ordered.

So where can one find a country car? The first place to look is on the Internet, particularly eBay. eBay motors is now the biggest car dealership on the planet and it is all online. This is a great place especially because you can search for a car by make, model and year. eBay also consists of products being posted by car dealers and also individuals meaning that it is easier to find a car there than in a regular dealership.

How to cool your car

Posted By Cheryl L. True on April 13, 2009 @ 3:13 am

If you have a new car, it helps if you know how to repair your vehicle. That way, if your car develops engine trouble on the road, you’ll know what to do.

With a little knowledge, you can perform quick troubleshooting procedures when your car breaks down. That’s cheaper than waiting for a mechanic or a tow truck to arrive. You don’t have to spend a huge amount of money just to hire a professional for a simple job you can do yourself, such as adjusting a few loose screws or cooling an overheating radiator.

As a beginner in auto repair, you must realize the importance of owning a basic service tool kit. This usually contains wrenches, screws and a jack. If your car stalls on the road, you will need these tools to fix it. Tools make auto repairs easier because they allow you to get to hard-to-reach areas.

For instance, what can be done about overheating? This is one of the most common problems during the summer season. It happens when the temperature of the coolant exceeds the normal operating temperature range of the engine.

Overheating has many causes. Idling under hot weather for prolonged periods can wreak havoc on the car’s cooling system, because the water pump doesn’t turn fast enough. Thus, the coolant is not circulated as it should be. Sometimes a leak may cause the coolant level to drop, causing the radiator to overheat.

To cool your car, follow these tips:

Turn off the air-conditioner (AC). If the car is not seriously overheating, this will reduce the engine’s temperature. The AC evaporator is located in front of the radiator, and it adds heat to the air going to your engine. The hotter the incoming air is, the less efficient the radiator will be.

Turn on your heater (set it on highest temperature setting with the blower on the highest setting). This will be uncomfortable for you, but it will cool the engine by transferring the heat to the air. Roll down the windows and remember how “hot” you’ll get if your engine has to be replaced because of your ignorance.

If you’re stuck in traffic, pull over and stop. Unless you’re moving, very little cool air reaches the radiator. Open the hood and let the engine cool off. This takes time, so be patient. Use the time to go get a jug of water or antifreeze.

Check the overflow tank coolant level. If it’s empty, the radiator is probably low on coolant.

Check the pressure of the system by wrapping a cloth around the upper radiator hose and squeezing it. If it’s still under pressure (hot) it will not squeeze easily. Wait until it does.

If the coolant is low, start the engine and slowly add water or coolant to fill it up. The engine must be running. Adding coolant to a warm engine can crack the block. By running the engine, the coolant keeps moving and reduces the chances of this type of damage occurring.

One of the most serious violations when it comes to driving is DUI or Driving under the influence. Consequences include suspension of driving license and/or termination of car insurance coverage contract. If you’re lucky enough, your car insurance company will keep on providing insurance coverage in exchange for a really high insurance rate.

So what’s the smartest thing to do after you are convicted of DUI? Your best bet would be to shop around for another car insurance company. You might have to include other insurance coverage together with your states minimum requirement as punishment and you have to file an SR-22. You have to hold on to your SR-22 for a minimum of 2 years. SR-22 is exclusively for high risk drivers or for drivers charged with DUI. In the simplest terms, SR-22 is a certification or proof that you acquired an auto insurance. SR-22 is also a requirement to reinstate your driver’s license.

Although dui car insurance is expensive and not to mention some insurance company will ignore you, you can still reduce your insurance cost if you will do the following.

Don’t rely on one insurance quote; you have to look around for the best and cheapest offer. As a matter of fact, you’ll get cheaper insurance quote if you go to a car insurance company that particularly handles drivers with DUI arrest.

Taking DUI and Risk Reduction classes will potentially lower your insurance rate. In some states and if you’re charged of DUI for the first time, they can clean you’re driving record by just taking risk reduction class together with an alcohol education program.

Don’t think that by giving false information you can fool an insurance company. Not only you are going to acquire inaccurate insurance quote but you are also risking yourself to land on expensive car insurance rate or worse being denied of insurance service.

Always aim for a high deductible when your objective is to have cheap DUI insurance. Your insurance premium can be reduced to half.
