Going to a Rally Tonight

Posted By Admin on June 3, 2008 @ 1:48 pm

After joining a network marketing company a couple of years ago, I have found myself to be a little busy when it comes to life.  I find myself scheduling many different meetings over the week and sometimes find that I have little time to visit with my family.

For example, tonight I am going to a local meeting that will be a rally of sorts for our organization.  There will be prizes handed out for the biggest recruiters as well as the members with the most sales.

I haven’t gone to one of these events before because I just haven’t had the time in the past, but this year it is going to be a possibility.  Not only that, but I have been nominated for an award and I hope to win for the “Best Mentor of the Year”.

Anyway, I should go get my clothes from the dry cleaners so that I am ready for tonight.  Wish me luck!

Taking Care of Sam

Posted By Twyla on May 22, 2008 @ 9:04 pm

When my son was three years old, we had a terrible experience with his daycare. Because of this, I decided that I needed to be able to stay at home with him. My husband and I started looking into options for an at-home business that I could run while taking car of Sam.

One of the things that our town was lacking was an outdoor adventure park for young children. It would be something that I could run and I would be able to take Sam to work with me every day. We found a place that had bouncy castles for sale and got to work on building our playground.

The first year, we had the castles and a mini golf course and the second year we added some inflatable slides. The park was a big hit and it was the perfect opportunity for our family to bring in an income and make sure that Sam was well taken care of.

How do you Reach People?

Posted By Jenn Brockman on @ 2:07 am

When it comes to MLM success, there are a couple ways to achieve it. The first is by networking. A great networker can get some good MLM lead generation just by talking to everyone they meet. Not selling their product or selling their company, but just by talking to and meeting everyone they get in front of.

The other kind of person can do this too but in a somewhat different way. Maybe they are bit more shy about talking to people they don’t know, or who don’t know them. Blogging for profit can work to their advantage, because they can present the same information on line in a format where they can take their time to share who they are and meet new people without the fear of stumbling over their words or saying something dumb. Blogging offers several avenues for marketing and networking and lead generation for any business, without the fear of being in front of someone live.

Filling the Need for Self Storage

Posted By Twyla on May 19, 2008 @ 10:12 am

Back in the day, shortly after my husband and I were married, we knew that it was imperative that we own our own business one day.  We were not sure what we wanted to do, but we knew that it would come to us when the time was right.  It was not long before we knew exactly what kind of business we were going to open.

While we were waiting for our house to be built we had to move to a small apartment.  There was no room for all of our things and we decided that we would put them into public storage Philadelphia until our house was finished.  We had such a difficult time finding a facility that had any room and we knew that the city needed more storage facilities.

Less than a year later we opened our first storage facility and now 10 years later, we have eight of them in the city and we have two of them in nearby cities as well.  The funny thing, as I still don’t think there is enough storage facilities and we could keep expanding and expanding to no end.

Getting My Name Known

Posted By Twyla on May 16, 2008 @ 12:16 pm

I have just begun my own business and I am very nervous about it. I know that I am giving up a lot of benefits and perks with my old job, but I think in the long run it is going to be very beneficial. I will no longer have medical coverage and I will miss the nice corporate gifts that I received every Christmas, but I think that the pros far outweigh the cons.

To launch my business, I purchased several promotional products with my company name, website and phone number on them. I figured that if I got my name out there that would be one big hurdle out of the way. Once people know who I am and what I do, I will start to get customers by word of mouth, but for now I need to get out there and find them myself.

I have been handing these promotional items out to practically everyone I meet. I figure if I hand out thousand of them then I should at least get hundreds of customers. I really think that once I get the clientele I will do very well and I am all about being successful.

Making Some Extra Money

Posted By Admin on May 7, 2008 @ 11:37 pm

I have been looking for awhile for a program that would allow me to make some residual income and yet take little work.  No, I have not been looking for a “get rich scheme”, but rather a real, genuine chance at increasing my income.

After much searching, I think that I have finally found a program that meets my criteria.  I have joined a bankcard ISO program that definitely has some perks and demand.

You see, I am selling merchant accounts to businesses in my area, providing them with the ability to accept credit cards.  We also provide them with the free terminals that they need to accept payments.

How is it going?

Well, I would have to say the response from the business community has been great.  They are happy to have an alternative to the programs offered by the banks, and business has never been better.

Outsourcing Our IT Department

Posted By Admin on April 30, 2008 @ 3:49 pm

I know that most people don’t care for companies that outsource departments of their business.  But for the small company that we operate, it really didn’t make much sense to have many different staff for positions that we needed, but were not critical to our success.

Many of those departments such as Payroll, Human Resources, and our IT support were smart departments to outsource.  Though we did need the resources presented by specialists in these areas, we didn’t need them all the time.

The biggest example was our IT department.  It seems that we rarely have an IT problem (knock on wood), but when we do, all we have to do is pick up the phone and someone will help us out.  It has definitely made a difference to the bottom line of our company by reducing our staffing expenses.

It is nice too that our employees understand the reasoning behind the outsourcing - it makes the workplace a friendlier environment when they know we are not trying to get rid of them.

Opening a New Branch Over Seas

Posted By Admin on April 27, 2008 @ 9:47 am

Our business has been doing very well in North America, and we have decided that it is time for us to expand our operations.  We have been considering opening an office overseas, but we wanted to get some professional advice before we did that.

We went to an accounting firm to learn how you go about company formation UK.  It was going to be our first company outside of our home country, and we were sure that the rules would be different.

And we were right.  The rules were significantly different.  While we were there, we also learned about the process for UK VAT registration - something that we would have to register for before we opened our doors.

Needless to say, it is going to be a bit of paperwork before we can open up shop in the UK.  But, we will be getting our lawyers and accountants get things setup, so there is not much work for us to do.

Exploring Storage Facility Upgrades

Posted By Admin on April 24, 2008 @ 3:35 pm

Having owned a self-storage facility for a number of year, I do have some experience as to what to offer customers when it comes to a place to store belongings.  We have had excellent success with storing regular household belongings, cars and RVs.

But there have been a number of customers of late asking if we offered yacht storage units.  We are within half an hour of a large lake where many people have yachts that they use during the summer.

I had never considered adding yacht storage as one of our services before, but the more that I thought about it, the more I realized it would be a natural fit to our business.  Besides, it would increase our revenue over winter months, which is nothing that I would complain about.

So, I will be adding a yacht storage unit or two during summer, so that we will be better able to cater to our clients during the winter season.

Is It Worth the Money?

Posted By Twyla on April 7, 2008 @ 5:36 am

I will admit that I have done many things in my life that I am not proud of, but who hasn’t right?  The thing that I am probably most ashamed of is the fact that I sold hundreds of custom research papers.  It was a way for me to make good money and it was something that I enjoy doing.  I made far more money doing this than I would have at a part-time job.

I was only in my second semester of college when a fellow student first offered to buy research paper material from me.  From there I decided that I would make my services available to others.  After all, I could whip up a first-year paper in an hour and get paid really good money for doing it.

I knew that I was good when I started getting hundreds of requests for my dissertation writing skills.  I wasn’t doing it for more than a couple of weeks before I had to start turning people away.  Before long, I dropped out of school to further my career this way.  After all, I couldn’t make this kind of money with a degree.

I did however, get to the point where my conscience won out and I decided I could no longer live with myself doing this.  I went back to school and finish my education and now I like myself all whole lot better.
