But Can She Cook?

Posted By Deb Gallardo on May 10, 2008 @ 12:13 pm

My Aunt Evelyn (no relation, just a family friend) used to complain, after she moved to New Mexico, about a friend who was a cookbook author. You’d think she’d be excited to know a published writer, but apparently no one exactly thrilled with the author’s dinner parties.

It seems that Clarinda was ahead of her time in writing about International cuisine. She would call up her circle of friends with an invitation that went something like this. “I’m thinking of writing about Indian food and I’ve found some fabulous, authentic Indian recipes. Can you be here at 7:00 for dinner Saturday? Come hungry.”

And whether it was Indian or Columbian, Vietnamese or Aleutian cuisine, her friends would dutifully come to sample her potential cookbook fare. But after the first invitation, they always ate at home first. Otherwise they’d go home hungry. It turns out Clarinda could write, but she couldn’t cook.

An Awesome Lunch

The only word that comes to mind about the lunch today at the marketing seminar is awesome.  It was perhaps the best meal that I have ever had in my life - and I am stuffed.

It definitely was better than yesterday’s food as they changed catering companies due to the number of complaints.  The food yesterday was cold and tasted horrible, so I am happy that they changed their minds today.

I asked one of the event catering employees which company they worked for.  I was sure to jot it down on paper so that I would be able to call them for our next corporate event.

I think that they will be doing supper tonight as well, so I just can’t wait.  I will just have to make sure that I don’t do any snacking during the afternoon, so that I can eat as much supper as I want.

One of the best sweets one could have.

I remember when I was a teen and when Bubblicious - the gum exploded on the scene. I was in junior high(yes, the year was 1977) and it was the gum to have. And I find it a great thing that now they have up to 13 flavors(had 16 but 3 are discountinued. Now I have found a great website to pretty much order 11 of the flavors of Bubblicious. My favorite is the watermelon wave and the lemonade.

Another great candy I came across at this website was the World’s Finest Chocolates. Some of these candies remind me of the stocking stuffers I got in my christmas stocking each year. My favorite flavors at World’s Finest Chocolates is the caramel swirl and the dark deluxe.

So be sure to drop in and order your favorite flavor candy and or Bubblicious gum at the World’s Finest Chocolates
