Head louse treatment is not always as easy as you think. There are some things that you need to consider and remember when you treat your child for head lice. Here are some head louse treatment facts.

Fact #1: Some lice may resist treatment.

Before, chemical based head louse treatment products used to be effective. Recent studies show though that some lice have grown resistant to some products. This is why lice don’t all die even when you follow product instructions. This is also the reason why you shouldn’t immediately get angry or complain that you have been misled by a head louse treatment product. Some manufacturers simply cannot control how lice develop chemical resistance.

Fact #2: Resistance can develop from improper use of products.

The lice’s resistance to some products isn’t entirely the fault of evolution alone. Lice sometimes develop resistance against typical head louse treatment products through the fault of some consumers. Studies again suggest that the improper application of some head louse treatment products may result in promoting resistance among lice.

Fact #3: Some products are only effective if meticulously used.

The best way for you to prevent promoting product resistance among lice is to follow product instructions to the letter. You should strictly follow instructions as to the amount, frequency and duration of application. This is also the only way you can fairly assess if a specific head louse treatment product works or not. In some cases, you may not have a completely effective product even if you follow instructions strictly. This is if your child has acquired lice that are already treatment resistant.

Fact #4: They’ll keep coming back if you don’t clean up.

Away from host, lice can survive a day or two. This means that even if you have an effective head louse treatment, the lice on bed sheets, clothing, and other things around the house could get right back into your child’s hair. You may have to thoroughly clean your kid’s things and your house to completely get rid of lice. One tip is that lice hate heat so you may have to use your dryer and vacuum to help you.

Fact #5: Regular inspection is needed.

Children can easily get head louse from other children, too. You should therefore make regular head and hair inspections a home policy. Finding lice at an early time can help prevent severe infestations.

Fact #6: Hygiene education is still partly important.

Over-cleanliness won’t help much since lice like clean heads. You can however teach your kids hygiene practices and habits that matter. You can for example instruct them not to share combs, caps and clothing with their friends and classmates. Doing so could spread lice faster since some lice may transfer form one host to another through clothing or other personal possessions. Monitor both your child and his things.

Considerations When Seeking New Stair Gates

Keeping children safe is the prime consideration in every parents mind. This is why choosing the right products like safe and trusted stair gates needs to be done with care. Just because something is being marketed for children does not mean that it is safe and dependable.

Everyone should know that there are several considerations that will help make choosing of stair gates and safety gates a smooth process.

Stair gates that are JPMA or CPSC certified are preferred.

Only use stair gates made with sturdy latch fittings and tested materials.

Be certain that the stair and safety gates are right for the location in which they are to be used. For instance, certain gates are not for use on stairways but for door openings only.

Choose a mounting system that is easy to install and will work on the walls of your home.

Certifications

Possessing a certification seal from JPMA or CPSC is considered a highest standard for any products designed to be used by children. This makes sure that parents are selecting a product that has met or exceeded guidelines that promote safety and security. One of the biggest groups that monitor how well certain products meet the required standards is the JPMA. Safety features and other quality principles are listed by ASTM.

JPMA is a separate product authority that works with ASTM and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to develop and maintain the highest level of standards and quality for the juvenile marketplace. When you notice the JPMA certification seal of approval you are assured that the product you purchase has been tested both during and after the manufacturing process. JPMA will only approve juvenile products like child stair gates after these items have met the most stringent criteria standards.

Materials Durability and Mounting Types

When deciding upon stair gates and safety gates, parents need to select those that are made from hardy, reliable materials. Less expensive items are also available but and these are manufactured from weak plastics or cheaper wood products. These types of stair gates will not stand up under the weight of a gregarious small child and can result in a serious accident.

The mounting structures must also be produced from materials that will be stable after installation. Metal hardware is preferred and this type of mounting system can hold steady against the weight and force of small children who are trying to get to the other side of the safety gate.

Visual Appeal

It is perfectly understandable that parents seek safety products that have a certain design style and there are a number of options for stair gates and safety gates that block access to dangerous areas like open doors, kitchens and stairs. Several of these gates have color and design choices that will fit almost any style.

Parents need to make certain they are not sacrificing any safety features when they select one of the more aesthetically pleasing gates.

Our Children Deserve the Best

A child’s safety is not something to jeopardize with an improperly chosen safety item. You want the best for your children and this means selecting safe and trusted stair gates that will prevent an unfortunate accident.

Parents should always choose child gates that are made of high quality material, have a certification seal from JPMA or CPSC, and have a strong, durable mounting system. This will give your home the child friendly safety features that you can trust.

Knitting A Hat Tips

Simple patterns are ideal for amateur knitters who are just learning the secrets of this occupation. The instructions available from many sources may sound simple but when you actually get to put them into practice things may look a bit complex. Many knitters searching for knitting hat tips for instance discover that the outcome of their efforts did not meet their expectations.

First of all, when knitting hat models you may have to use more than just two needles; for smaller head sizes six or seven needles will do while for larger sizes, you may have to use nine or ten.

Knitting hat patterns match with all types of yarn, you just need to decide for the color and texture before buying the material. Beginners will not be able to start knitting hats unless they already know how to cast, stitch, purl and knit the stitches together. Look out for stitch loss, if you happen to lose some stitches, recover them with a crochet hook; if you can’t retrieve them, it is most likely that you’ll have holes in the hat pattern. Hats can be knitted for babies, children or adults alike, using the same methods and materials.

One important aspect many knitting hat tips insist on is the number of stitches; this means that you have to count them at the end of each row to make sure that they are in the correct number. Otherwise you risk to get an uneven pattern that will look odd and flawed. A special warning here involves the use of scissors; well, you’ll be using these tools a lot and if you plan to take the knitting hat project with you when you travel by plane, keep in mind the fact that you won’t be able to pass the scissors through airport security. Buy a yarn cutter from a craft shop as a substitute for scissors, it will work just fine.

Here are some other knitting hat items you may need as well. Start with the needles; you need around eight of the same kind and they have to match the thickness of the yarn. Make sure to have a crochet hook at hand too in case you lose stitches and need to retrieve them. It is good not to try too complex pattens unless hat knitting is not a novelty. Choose the easiest knitting approach if you are working on a hat for the first time.

Sexting can be a dangerous practice and has already lead to many sexual assault cases. Law enforcement has been struggling with dealing with the victims and what to do about it. While sexual predators have been the main focus in the past, they are now eying the teens that engage in sexting.

Due to laws already in place to battle child pornography and it’s transmission over the Internet, teenagers are now being charged with distribution of child pornography. This means if your teen sends an image of themselves that is inappropriate over the Internet, even a teen their own age, they can be charged with distributing of child pornography.

You may not be able to control your teen with all the sharing and talking about the subject. If your teen is a rebellious one, there are other options you can put in place to protect them from themselves.
