When it comes to writing an intro, what comes to mind is writing a small introductory passage. However, this is not all that’s to it. What you need to do to engage reader interest is to bring out your story in the right way. In order to do this, you need to encapsulate the spirit of the entire story and bring it out through an example. When you do this you have to be careful because capturing the story essence alone is not enough, you need to grasp the main point of the story, else the purpose of the story is lost.
The important point about writing an intro is that it must be short. When you write a headline and then put content below it, your reader will expect the headline to correspond to the story below. Readers really won’t give much time to an intro which talks about sports, when the headline talks about vacations.
Furthermore, you may have captured the essence of the story very well in the intro, but you have to ask yourself the question.. is the intro short enough to engage reader interest before the content return to elaborating on the subject a hand?
The piece above contains an intro that’s quite short. This kind of intro has the potential to work very well as long as the reader knows what they are reading. Readers know what the article is going to tell them in broad terms and so they know what to look-out for within the story.
Thus, if you write a very long introduction which does not relate to the headline, you would be putting down reader interest in an otherwise engaging story.
Another point is when you use anecdotes. You should let your reader know before-hand how your anecdote relates to your topic before you tell it to them, else the reader will leave out your topic, even before you begin to elaborate your point.
More essence in fewer words; the function of an introduction is to convey something about your broader point.
So, what you need to do is think about your intro is a broader sense and then bring out details that will help to bring this forth clearer and omit those which don’t. It’s better to leave out details such as dates, names, descriptions and diversions when they are not relevant to the main point presented in the anecdote, as they will not distract the reader from the real point you wish to make.

If you want to grab the reader’s attention you must pay attention with the introductory passage. This is the lead in for the rest of your story. Think about your intro as a whole and consider which details help do this and which do not
Marketing with articles is not a new concept. In fact, business owners have been using it in the offline world through magazines and newspapers for ages. However, today’s business owners use articles for marketing their products, for search engine optimization (SEO), and getting back links to their websites.
Keywords make the author able to target the audience of their choice, thus getting the attention of people looking for the information they are providing.
Article marketing is in essence, a very cost-effective form of business advertising. The goal is to create an engaging, informative article on a relevant topic within your niche that is then published online for others to use freely.
This method extends your reach beyond what you could do on your own. It gets your web site more back links, and makes the traffic flow to your web site to increase, therefore improving your rankings in the SEs.
Articles that are written for marketing purposes are typically submitted to online article directories. This is a place where people who are looking for content can access your article, and publish it on their own websites, blogs, newsletters, and even in print magazines.
The end of your article will include a resource box, or author bio with some information about you and your business, and includes a back link to your web site where interested readers can go for further information. Anybody who uses your article is required to publish it in full, which includes your information, with working links, at the end of the article.
Still, article marketing does not only benefit internet business owners. The truth is, that it serves a twofold purpose, the publisher gets access to free content, while the business owner gains free publicity. Its beneficial to all involved parties, which is why its such a popular method of advertising.
What do some manuscripts and pet dogs have in common? Well it is the loyalty! You write something and send it off to the publisher, only for it to get rejected and sent back. Sometimes they will have a piece of advice attached to them mentioning about the flair for writing skills you possess; however, regrettably informing that the publishing house requires something else.
It’s possible that someone went through this process too many times and invented blogging, the ideal way to forget editors and publishers and express thoughts and feelings, creatively, nonsensically or in any way you please. Blog to your heart’s content and no one can tell you to stop it, because it’s your own little publishing world and you hold all the rights.
There are no boundaries for the topics. You can write on anything that exists or doesn’t exist. You can let your imagination flow.
Evidently, the best aspect of blogging is the ability to share your opinions and feelings about anything. There are plenty of similar minded people to agree or disagree with you, depending on what you are focusing on. It doesn’t matter whether you are talking about politics or the Greek language, you’ll have plenty of company.
What’s more, blogging can be profitable too. A few readers and a link here and there brings you web traffic and that gradually builds up to give you an income potential through pay per click ads placed within your blog page. So, you can write about what you love and get paid for it too.
Among the many common themes used for blogging, how-to blogs take a high position. There’s always someone who can tell you what to do about something, whether it’s a situation, household need, hobby or whatever it is. There are also those who dedicate their time to delve into the weirder side of living and dig up various tid-bits of weird news to throw out your boredom.
If your taste runs to lifestyle tips and the like, there are plenty of blogs that will give you more than enough. Or maybe you would just like to read about your favourite TV shows – you can bet that there will be plenty of bloggers who love those shows too.
No matter what you want to know, there are people who want to tell you – for no real reason other than that they just want to. No matter what you want to say, there will be people who want to listen. That’s what blogs are for!
Ever heard of manuscripts that are like faithful dogs? No matter where you send them, they come back to you, usually with a polite – if you’re lucky – note saying that what you sent is not exactly what the publishing house is looking for. But, by all means, they say, keep writing.
Nobody can tell you what to write about, either. If one morning you feel that a sunrise looked particularly nice, or if a cloud reminded you of a wax statue at Madame Tussaud’s, well, you can go right ahead and write about it.
Writing on topics that are unknown to you can also become a hit. There would be several people who would extend their criticism or judgment on your writing style and ideas. All you have to do is find the right blog for your creative freedom.
An extra benefit that merits mention is that you can also make money off blogs. Once you have a few readers and more than a few hits, you can put up pay per click ads on your blog. This solves the final problem of eliminating publishers – you can get paid for writing absolutely what you like.
There are numerous ‘how-to’ blogs. These blogs advice people on doing a number of activities in a various ways. As a matter of fact, you will see that even though these ‘how to’ activities already exist, there will be number of sites still dedicating the pages to them. Better still you can get hold of the latest happenings in the world and write on them. There are numerous bloggers who are actually doing that.
There are many web sites that write about the lifestyle and fashion trends. These give loads of tips to the people even if they are not really required or they are useless. Try blogging about the TV shows. There are several bloggers who watch the TV shows just to write reviews about them.
No matter what you want to know, there are people who want to tell you – for no real reason other than that they just want to. No matter what you want to say, there will be people who want to listen. That’s what blogs are for!
If you’ve ever wondered if the words on a website were very important, then keep reading.
Brad Yates is a master at EFT, or Emotional Freedom Techniques. EFT is a method for tapping away psychological issues so you are free to have, do, or be what you want.
Some people call is “psychological acupuncture.” You use a finger or two to “tap” on certain areas of your body, which releases stuck energy so you can move forward without any internal blocks.
Snicker if you like. EFT has been used for well over ten years and is now practiced by tens of thousands of people. They can’t all be faking problems and then faking resolutions. EFT works.
Brad Yates was one of my guests when I did my “Attract a New Car” teleseminar a while back. I liked him and told him about an idea I had for a series on “Money Beyond Belief.” It would be a course to help people remove their barriers to having money. Brad would teach people EFT so they could remove their blocks to receiving money.
Brad loved the idea, we conducted the seminars, and then quickly put up a website to sell the audios. Now, Brad knows EFT but he doesn’t know marketing, so the site wasn’t the strongest in the copy area. The words left something to be desired. I offered some advice but didn’t have the time to rewrite the site. So we left it alone and opened it for business. You can see it at http://www.bradyates.net/page45.html
Take a moment and look at the site.
What do you think of it?
Is the copy strong?
Is it hypnotic?
What’s missing?
And here’s the million dollar question:
Does the copy make you want to buy the product?
Brad and I told our lists about our product. We stood back and waited for orders.
And waited.
And waited.
Orders trickled in.
Weeks later, we still didn’t have enough orders to make either of us very happy. We ended up using EFT on our disappointment.
While I wanted to rewrite the site, I just couldn’t get to it with my books, projects, media appearances, travels and more. Thank goodness a young copywriter by the name of Sam Rosen came to Brad and offered to help. Sam had studied all of my Hypnotic Writing materials and was game to prove his skills.
Sam completely rewrote our site. You can see the new copy at http://www.MoneyBeyondBelief.com
Take a moment and look it over.
Now here are the same questions as before:
What do you think of it?
Is the copy strong?
Is it hypnotic?
What’s missing?
And here’s the million dollar question:
Does the copy make you want to buy the product?
Here are the results:
The first website, which we’ll call exhibit A, bombed. It barely made 100 sales in 100 days.
The second website, exhibit B, blew down all the doors and made $8,500 in sales in only one day.
So, does copy make a difference in selling?
Consider:
* The product was the same. * The price was the same. * The audience we promoted it to was the same.
The only change was the writing.
Please note: The only change was the copy.
The next time you scratch your head and wonder if hypnotic writing will help your sales, re-read this article.
And then expect money beyond belief.
There are many webmasters that find writing articles for their site to be a very tedious task. Many people who need to write articles also procrastinate as much as they can to delay the amount of writing they need to do. Many people dread writing articles because they find researching for the topic and writing down original materials will be too taxing on them.
These are articles written down by many authors that have declared their works to be public domain, which means anybody can use it for whatever purpose they want. Have you ever heard about public domain? You need to have your creative juices flowing and simply downloading an article would be plagiarism or tantamount to stealing, not exactly.
Public domain articles are not owned by anybody and can be used and abused by anyone. The writers have waived their rights to their works and it is out there for the public to make use of. While most authors would prefer to copyright their work for their rights, there are also a number who doesn’t mind sharing their work.

You don’t need to scour around the library or the internet for hours for information and start an article from scratch. For webmasters who are looking for articles to fill their site and to generate a high ranking for their website in search engine results, they can just modify the article by infusing keywords and keyword phrases related to their site. This is probably the easiest way to write articles.
A webmaster or website operator do not risk any chance of getting sued for copyright infringement because they are public domain, once again meaning that anybody can use it. Writing articles by using public domain wont require as much work as writing one from scratch would. You save a lot of time also.
While a single five hundred worded article would only set you down 10 to 15 dollars, this cost will drastically increase when you need hundreds of articles to fill the needs of your site. One good factor in using public domain articles for your site or for any project is that you save a lot of money.
You do not need to count on your contributors or pay writers to write down articles for your newsletter or e-zine. You can fill all the pages without any cost or the worry of being sued and sought after by the writers. You can simply copy the articles and place them on your newsletter and e-zine.

John Irving penned one of my favorite novels of all time: The World According to Garp. Garp, the main character of the book, calls forth an interesting difference between the reader and the writer. At times I ponder the differences Garp points out between readers and writers, and I wonder where on the spectrum do most of us fall.
Since I don’t consider turning writing into a life-long endeavor and because it’s not a serious hobby of mine, I can’t really consider myself a writer. But say I did call myself a writer. I wonder how much of what I write would improve because of my extra scrutinizing. If that were the case I would end up hating writing altogether, which is probably why I only do it for pleasure and do not take it too seriously.
Writing fiction and scholarly essays are the two kinds of writing I primarily do. And trust me, I have never ever written a scholarly essay for my own pleasure. And I bet that most people who do write scholarly essays are like me and don’t write them for fun, unless they’re getting paid for their work or if they are attending school. Actually, I bet most scholarly essays that exist are written by university students. I’m not a fan of this, however. Checking out books and scouring libraries and websites for research before I write the paper is my favorite part!
So what is it that keeps me from writing scholarly essays for pleasure? Who knows. Thinking about doing research for a new paper for fun makes me feel both excited and tired.
I don’t necessarily consider myself a true reader though. Lots of you reading this are able to soak up and read through books fast and effectively, but not me. I envy all of the people out there who have that amazing skill of blazing through a heavy book.
When it comes to reading, I take it really slow. I will pore over a single passage or sentence several times. I keep a pen and notepad next to me just in case I need to write anything down that I’ve thought was really interesting in the book. Now perhaps I would move through books faster if I read them just for their plot, but there’s no way I could ever force myself to do that consistently. I’ll keep trying though, unfortunately.
One might call it foolish when someone categorizes themself as either a reader or writer, but if you ever ask yourself, “Why do I read?” then you just might see what I’m talking about. And you may even find that you’ll be like me and have some trouble finding an answer.
Since I’m both a writing instructor and a writing coach, people are always asking me, “What’s the difference between a writing instructor and a writing coach? ” Here’s what I tell them. A writing instructor is someone who teaches a mortal (or persons) HOW to write.
A writing instructor can teach various types of writing such as technical writing, writing for children, resume writing, writing screenplays, etc. Generally, a writing instructor or teacher is needed when someone wants to learn the craft of writing in one genre or another. A writing coach can also teach the mechanics, or the “how-to” of writing, from time to time.
But generally, a writing coach works with a mortal (or persons) who know the mechanics of the type of writing he wants to write, but he has trouble staying on track. The writing coach’s client needs help with specific strategies to develop a focus for his writing (and perhaps even for his writing career) and then comes to the coach seeking additional help maintaining that focus.
Both writing instructors and writing coaches can help motivate the writing student or client. But a writing instructor develops the focus for the instruction he or she is presenting to the student(s), while, with a writing coach, the client is directly or indirectly responsible for setting the focus of each coaching session.
Think of it this way. If you know the kind of writing you would like to do, but you don’t have the skills, education, and training required for this type of writing, then you probably need a writing teacher or instructor.
On the other hand, if you HAVE taken courses, workshops, and other training and are skilled at the type of writing you wish to pursue, yet you can’t seem to stay motivated or focused long enough to complete that book you’ve always wanted to write, or you can’t figure out how to use your skills to develop a full-time writing career, then you probably need a coach.
